Appliances
Heating, cooling, cooking & eating.
We used a full oven/stove range 20” wide, propane-powered w/ electrical ignition
It sticks out into the hall far enough that a skinnier RV option might be a better choice
We adjusted our dining table to be a fold-down to compensate for space
Full electric fridge (consider a smaller fridge that fits up against the wall)
Woodstove - ordering from Cubic Mini
Electric heater in parents’ bedroom - wall mount, will need to be strategically placed to meet clearance requirements
AC unit - installed in kitchen ceiling - Dometic. Runs off of its own separate circuit. Will affect headroom in kitchen
Vent fans in the kitchen (over range) and bathroom (over shower)
Builders Notes
Of our appliances, the overhead AC unit is the only one hardwired separately with its own circuit breaker. Our fridge, range, vent fans, and electric heater will plug into outlets, and the primary heat source is a wood-fired stove that will be installed in the kitchen. We opted for the smallest full-sized appliances we could find, still sacrificing space for the convenience of functionality. Smaller appliances could be used.
*It’s good for students to have an understanding of the appliances, different options, how they work, etc., but we would not recommend having them work on the more complicated installations, specifically the wood stove and AC units that penetrate through the roof.
