the different phases of the bus project
We started our bus conversion journey with a 40’ long Blue Bird school bus that was already in the midst of a conversion process. We worked with one lead builder and up to five high school students at a time for two school terms - approximately six months. Students were present one day per week in two separate two-hour sessions, and our lead builder worked an additional two to three days per week with assistance from a variety of builders and volunteers. For these six months, we completed demolition, design, insulating, electrical work and are in the process of completing built-in furniture, plumbing, and trim as we pass the bus onto another set of students to complete the finish work over the rest of the school year.
